Kresge Art Museum

Kresge Art Museum is mid-Michigan's only accredited art museum providing education and aesthetic enjoyment for diverse audiences and is the home of Michigan State University's collection of over 7,000 works of art. Portions of the collection are on continuous display, offering a rich diversity of styles, techniques and media. Objects on view span 5,000 years of human history and include representative examples of works of art from ancient Cycladic figures to contemporary mixed media installations. By researching, presenting, and preserving art from various times and cultures, the museum serves the Michigan State University community, general public of mid-Michigan and beyond. The Museum is open 7 days a week and admission is free.

MSU Libraries

The MSU Libraries consists of the Main Library and nine branch libraries and provides a broad array of information resources and services to support the needs of faculty, staff, and students. The collection includes more than 4.7 million volumes, 6.5 million microforms, 200,000 maps, 60,000 sound recordings, and 37,000 current journal subscriptions. The Libraries provides access to more than 28,000 electronic journals and 800 databases and is the largest computer lab on campus. Reference services are provided in person and online through e-mail and chat, to help students become more efficient and effective in searching for information. The MSU Libraries has consistently ranked in the top group of the Association of Research Libraries. Michigan State University Museum

The MSU Museum is Michigan's natural history and culture museum and the state's first Smithsonian Institution affiliate, featuring three floors of special collections, changing exhibits and educational programs year-round. The museum is located on West Circle Drive, next to Beaumont Tower and is open free of charge (donations are welcome) seven days a week. Each August, the MSU Museum produces the award-winnng Great Lakes Folk Festival, a celebration of culture, tradition and community in downtown East Lansing.

The MSU Museum promotes interdisciplinary research, programs and activities in partnership with College of Arts & Letters, College of Natural Science, College of Social Science, MSU Extension and University Outreach and Engagement.

MSU School of Music

The School of Music at Michigan State University is known throughout the United States and in many parts of the world as a leading professional training ground for composers, conductors, performers, music educators, historians, theorists, and therapists.

An outstanding faculty of more than 70 resident artists and scholars, and more than 65 graduate assistants completing advanced studies, provide instruction and guidance. The faculty is noted for devotion to teaching, excellence in performance, creating innovative and imaginative curricula, and the production of creative works and significant research in many areas of music.

WKAR Television and Radio

Unit description: WKAR Television and Radio provides public broadcasting programming to mid-Michigan on WKAR-TV, WKAR-DT, 90.5 WKAR, AM 870, and on Comcast cable stations 'KAR2, 'KAR3, and 'KAR4. The stations are part of Michigan State University Broadcasting Services, which also includes Interactive Video Services, Radio Talking Book, and online services WKAR.org and WMSU.org.
